Activity around applying generative AI to music has been escalating in recent months. It has the potential to disruptively impact people across a wide variety of work and life roles relating to music: composers, lyricists, performers, producers, voiceover artists, podcast hosts, advertisers, presenters, and so many more.
As many of you who know me are already aware, I’m:
a lifelong music lover,
a career-long data analysis geek, and
a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion.
Ethics of generative AI for music is a perfect storm for me - how could I *not* write about it? :)
On behalf of my collaborators and myself, I’m delighted to announce a new “state of the union” analysis, as of mid-March 2024, on ethical use of generative AI for creating music!
This 100% FREE, 100% human-authored set of posts includes an overview of the affected PEOPLE and the companies and PRODUCTS, and then dives deep into bias risks, copyright infringement concerns, costs vs. benefits, and other important aspects of AI ethics.
Our current plan, detailed in this INTRODUCTION post in our
