Interesting hack. I honestly didn't realize PSE was still a thing these days. I thought it died long ago.

For me, the workaround is Readwise.io and their reader app, at least in regards to new Substack pieces I want to subscribe to. The downside is it's not subscribing through the app though (it's more a direct subscription via a specialized email address)

I came across PSE while looking for something better than the embedded Google Search form my old website used, which only worked with either 1 website or the whole WWW. I’ll have to check out Readwise.io, Carey - thanks for the tip!

Note that PSE #2 doesn’t fully solve the mobile app problem of not being able to get to a Substack post from my LinkedIn app. I’d have to find a way to get Google’s search result links to ‘hint’ opening in the Substack app, and that’s likely impossible. The only workaround is still to copy the link, and open it in a mobile browser that remembers my Substack login.

What it does solve, though, is if I search in my mobile browser using this PSE, the mobile browser is smart enough to open a search result into the Substack app. I have a home screen shortcut now to open the PSE for me.

Or when I get to my desktop browser, I can actually find the person. Or if I recall later that I saw a post about X but not who wrote it or where, I can find it.
