Can you explain ML and LLM?

ML is Machine Learning. ML models analyze existing data. They are used to classify, predict, diagnose, make recommendations, etc. (Examples: Netflix recommender for movies they think you’ll like, email spam filters)

LLM is Large Language Model. LLMs are trained on huge volumes of data. They are used to generate new content. LLMs underlie tools like ChatGPT. They are ‘generative’ AI or ‘genAI’ for short. GenAI models also exist now for generating images, video, speech, and music, not just text. They can create new content. Sometimes the new content doesn’t make sense or is wrong. (Examples: image of a person with too many fingers, or stating ‘facts’ which aren’t true)

I have a ‘what is AI’ explainer that covers these terms and gives examples. I’ll try to get it uploaded shortly. Thank you for reminding me to cover the acronyms I use, Ros!
