📣 "Humans of New York" for AI: real stories of people using AI, and AI using people 🗣️
AI has great potential for good & for harm. Announcing a new 6 'P's in AI Pods interview series starting in August, with personal stories from real people about how AI is impacting their lives. (2:55)
📣 Coming soon: Announcing a new 'interview' series with personal stories on how AI/ML technologies are affecting the work and home lives of real people.
People worldwide span the spectrum for how we are using AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning). As examples:
Some of us are using LLMs (large language models, like ChatGPT) with glee and intention.
Some of us are cautiously using (possibly non-generative) AI & ML technologies for building products and services.
Some of us are avoiding use of many or all AI-based tools due to various ethical, personal, professional, or cost concerns.
Whether we use AI or not, AI companies are using us. Many of us (some might say all of us) are being exploited by AI companies' voracious appetite for (our) data and content.
And it’s getting harder and harder to avoid AI-based tools and systems. We now live in an AI-infused world where our data and content is being harvested and used for AI and ML (often without our informed consent).
AI technologies have great potential for good, as well as for great harm. We need to understand both. All of these real stories deserve to be heard.
My interview guests will include techies, of course. We'll also include people from a wide range of roles, industries, and locations worldwide. Each guest can choose whether to share their stories anonymously or with credit.
Do you have a story about how you're using AI & ML tools - or about how AI & ML companies are using you - that you'd be willing to share, anonymously or not? Message me and let's chat!
We will start publishing these stories in August 2024 in our 6 ‘P’s in AI Pods newsletter under the People section. (Stories may also be shared on the 6P podcasts, only if the guest wishes). The series is called “AI, Software, and Wetware” and you can read more about it here. Newly published interviews are being tracked on this 6P Interview List page.
Please heart, comment, restack, share, etc. to help me reach a diverse group of interview guests, on or off Substack. Everyone's experience with AI is different, and matters!
