A living directory of women & non-binary people who write on Substack about artificial intelligence, machine learning, & data on ethics, privacy, governance, applications, education, & business. Suggestions welcome!
Everyone, thank you all so much for your engagement and enthusiasm for our directory. It's now up to 450 writers and it needs more room to grow 😊 As of June 15, 2025, this directory has been migrated to a shiny new She Writes AI newsletter: shewritesai.substack.com Check it out, and please subscribe (free) to be notified of additions and to participate in the upcoming community features!
Thank you so much for including me, Karen! 💜 I can’t wait to dive into the post and discover more incredible women in this space. What an amazing resource
Wow, this is amazing! Thank you so much for putting in the time and care to build this directory.
Honestly, it’s badass. I’m excited to dive into these publications and connect with more women and non-binary folks in the space. There are way more people on here than I expected, and I love to see it.
Absolutely, @Tam Nguyen - when I started the directory in December with 34, I had a sense that there were still more women writing here about AI and data, but it amazes me too that we’re up to 400 (and I’ve already found more).
One aspect I love is that a lot of this year’s additions are women who just started writing here on Substack this year … so that means we are growing in numbers (not that I’m just now discovering them). And that is very cool. You just started in April, right? and you’re already over 100 subscribers, which is awesome 😊
hello! im kind of all over the place, a digital nomad of sorts but i write about data ethics, AI policy and overall tech philosophy! idk where you would pin me on a map anywhere from america to europe to turkey lol
So glad you spoke up here, Esra - I just skimmed a few of your articles & enjoyed your writing about AI and ethics. I'll be glad to put your map pin in whatever country or metro area you feel best represents you 😊 I'll DM you!
If someone is looking for a german-speaking perspective on AI & Data, feel free to follow my substack :) sometimes it is not easy to seperate the US views from those with impact also on EU and GER.
Hi @Larissa, thank you for chiming in! I’ll be glad to add you to the next update of the directory. And my German is weak but I’ll enjoy reading what I can of your writing about views on AI & data from Germany 😊
Thank you so much for this list Karen! Finding some great new writers to follow here. I’d love to be added too please! https://amitashukla.substack.com/

Hi Karen, could we update my newsletter to Building Beta? I've closed down Engineer Your Edge and restarted as Building Beta. 😊
Sure, Shelly - we’ll update it :)
Definitely working on recruiting more Alaskan contributors!! 🤗
So excited to see Alaska on this list, and all the countries and contributors you've added! 🤗🥳
Shelly, it’s great to have you as our first - and hopefully soon, not the only - Alaskan writer about AI 😊
